Xstandard has great features, although it needs software to run on the client to work. In many situations that is not possible. The client software only runs on Windows and that makes it a show stopper for me. It is really a pity, since the rest of the features are very compelling!

Anyway, if users of MODx have the choice to use TinyMCE or XStandard, that would be great.

I’m sure someone will code a plugin like xstandard or tinymce sometime with modx’s own engine..
I hope so smiley, isn’t it opensource? So you are allowed to develop it in an other branch, under the gpl license.

        What would be the point?
They have a whole dev team working on a great RTE. Why would the MODx Dev’s want to reinvent the RTE. Honestly, there is more important work to focus on with the core as well as add-ons. TinyMCE, FCKeditor, Xinha, xstandard... These are all great RTE’s that already are, or could be integrated into MODx. An RTE is no trivial application. Programming a web RTE (at least a good, useful one) takes an entire Dev team and community in itself. MODx’s Dev team is busy at work with MODx wink. I’m supprised you didn’t know these things!

I just came across another pretty promising editor; they claim not to be a WYSIWYG editor, but rather a ’What You Mean’-editor, for the sake of xHTML compatibility it only allows you to alter classes and elements rather than colors and fonts, could be a pretty nice addon wink

Anyway, what I almost forgot, the URL is http://www.wymeditor.org/en/

Edit; ups, I missed that one Doze, thanks.

Is there anyone to develop the xstandard plugin for modx?

I might concider it in 4 month´s when my latest project is done.
Ivé used xstandard on a MS database project, so i know it is fast (small) and stable.

But im testing the WYMeditor, since it seem to produce cleaner code and have a
relatively clean javascript code (read, faster load!). Im not shure though if it will have
all the features of TinyMCE or xstandard, in 4 months.
