Oh gosh, this would be a nightmare for load times. That’s at least one separate AJAX call for every hover over, not to mention the fact that I don’t know if I’d always want the thing to display a preview. My experience with preview hovers is that they’re bad news - they end up becoming annoying more than helpful.
I agree on that we don’t want a fancy function slowing down things. But there shouldn’t be a need for an Ajax call just for displaying first part of documents content. There is already now a small yellow label that shows some info on the document from several fields. If that where a bit bigger and also showing the first part of the content field it would make my life easier.Quote from: splittingred at Oct 06, 2006, 03:41 PM
And anyways, shouldn’t you just know what the page is in the first place? Your page title should be descriptive enough to explain this. If not, open another tab and browse the actual site.
Well, if I have 20 document it wouldn’t be a problem, but with hundreds or thousands it’s a bit harder.

In my case I often use chunks and snippets in the first part of content, and I want to easily be able to see what these calls are. If I follow your suggestion I see the rendered page, not the code. For now I have to open every document for editing just to see the code I’m looking for.

I guess we all have different needs smiley This isn’t a big issue for me, just another easy solution that saves time for me.

@doze --> I think I’ll follow your advise next time starting a new thread even for small wishes like this one. Now I’m curious of what others think about my little yellow info label, but no one will find my post in this thread as its topic isn’t about small yellow labels... smiley

EDIT: Of course there must be a way of turning this "little yellow label showing content thing" on/off...
