For example in the edit page in manager, there are 4 sections

    1. Document setting
    2. Document content
    3. Template Variables
    4. Access permissions

Each of them take up screen space. I suggest that user could simply click on the icon beside the section title name to collapse and uncollapse them (hide and unhide). What has been hide and unhide shall also be remembered by cookie. So if use has hide Document Setting section in 1 page and when he edit another page, the section will be hide.

SMF forum (modx using) has this feature to easily hide a group of forum, or section (such as the header and footer using the + and - sign) That’s exactly what I am referring to.

I also suggest that the 4 sections can be easily drag and drop to switch their position. For example I can drag Document content to position #1 and make Document setting now at #2. But I admit that this is not so useful as compare to the collapse feature which help to save screen space.

I totally agree! There is so muck scrolling going on with MODx that shouldn’t be needed.

And there are other things taking up unnecessary space, like the row where you choose what to do after save. Why not have just a single row of buttons?

      [Save(Close)][Save/Add][Apply]{Duplicate][Delete]{Cancel]

Also if it was possible to have that bar fixed in a position where I can always reach it...

And why not use "Save as" instead of duplicate? So many times I missed that I forgot to press duplicate and saved over something that was not supposed to get changed.

I’m sure this has been discussed elsewhere...

      :)

Have you been looking behind the scenes? We’ve actually got this working already. Won’t make 095, but probably a patch release prior to the next major release.

There is no meaning with posting things to this wishlist, it seems that all the stuff people can come to think of is already in the pipeline! laugh

And no, I haven’t been looking behind the scenes! laugh

Don’t tell me that you will also add drag n drop support for moving documents, and the possibility to delete chunks and snippets etc without opening them first!

And chunks and snippets sub categories are of course also in the pipline? tongue

Actually, there very much is a lot of reason. We’ve indeed toyed with drag and drop (directly in the tree) but never got anything to work reliably. With the most recent beta in SVN however, that should be much more doable as it’s using mootools and prototype vs the original webelm.

Those should actually be quite doable and very good ideas. Please file two feature requests in the bugtracker. smiley

Ok, I’ll add it there, one more place to register smiley

While I’m thinking of it, it would be great if I could mark several items (like chunks and snippets) and then hit delete to be able to delete several items at once. Earlier today I had to open about 15 chunks one and one to be able to delete them. Just marking them and then press delete to get rid of them all at the same time would have been nice! smiley I’ll add that too! smiley

Btw, where is the correct place to post small wishes like the ones I wrote in this thread? I don’t want to start a new thread for every little detail that I think would be a good feature in manager.

Like now, I have another feature that would make my life easier:

When hovering over documentsand folders in the documents window if would be great if the little info pop up (don’t know what it’s called) showed the first bit of thats documents content to make me able to see what the content of that particular document is, without the need of opening or previewing it by clicking on it. This would be an easy way of get an fast overview of documents content... and it could also apply to snippets and chunks too.

Where should I post requests like these?

I think every wish can be in it’s own thread.. what may seem to be simple to implement can be huge for usability. Wishes can be discussed here in the forums at first and if people like them, then add to Flyspray as feature request.

EDIT: Just to make my point perfectly clear; thread’s get’s confusing pretty fast when many different things (Wishes) are discussed in one topic overlaying each other.. and I think it’s good to discuss wishes first before adding to Flyspray.

Oh gosh, this would be a nightmare for load times. That’s at least one separate AJAX call for every hover over, not to mention the fact that I don’t know if I’d always want the thing to display a preview. My experience with preview hovers is that they’re bad news - they end up becoming annoying more than helpful.

And anyways, shouldn’t you just know what the page is in the first place? Your page title should be descriptive enough to explain this. If not, open another tab and browse the actual site.

On a bit another note. Will the content TV (or is it maybe grossly wrong to call it the default TV) every be removable from the form you get when you want to create a new document? For example I don’t use the content thingy on some pages and then it’s just confusing for my editors when they see that content thingy when creating new documents in their folders.
