Yes, but i’m talking about an extended part.
someone is in modxcms.com for first time, after some times he has read some contents of modxcms.com and have some basic question about: MODx, it’s features and maybe this question: why should i change my cms and migrate from my current cms(for example Ajax Joomla)?
he must find answers of his main questions quickly. WIKI is suitable for learning, it is not so effective.
my talking is about an intersting forum that make question for new visitors, a persuasion forums that force( cool ) visitors to participate in discussions. forums should hypnotic new visitors shocked.
I tried to tell my purpose, but perhaps i couldn’t do it well. undecided

      Thanks alot

Ajax search page would be nice with, for example, a search form on the left column with check boxes on what areas to include (subject, content, user, date posted) and on the right column the search results that automaticly populated with matching topics as the user typed.

Don’t think that anything is under development relating this.. So I would guess no.

Reading another post on getting into MODx made me think of two forum features that I think would be tremendously useful and might save all of us a lot of time and prevent frustration.

            1. Let me specify in my profile which languages I speak and show me posts only in those languages.

This would dramatically reduce the results of "show unread posts since last visit."  If I’m gone for a while, this request gets me a ton of topics (sometimes 30+ pages -- once I got to wade through 78 pages), most of which are in languages I don’t speak.

            2. Let me ask to be shown my own forum posts, most recent first. There may be an easy way to do this but I haven’t found it.

"Show me new replies to my posts" does some of this, but it’s no good when you get a suggestion, try it, and want to re-post to the same topic but there are no new posts on the topic.

Those are indeed useful features, and you can do both things now in the MODx forums; they’re just a little bit difficult to find....

If you click on the link to your Profile at the top of the page, you’ll see a Show Posts link to the left in the main profile page. That will show you all of your posts (whether there’s ben a new reply or not). You can bookmark that page for quicker access if you like.

And also in the Profile page you’ll see an Ignore Boards Preferences link. Click on that and select all of the boards that you want to ignore (languages you don’t speak, etc.). Posts from ignored boards won’t be displayed to you anywhere after that.

Most excellent!!! I’m continually amazed at the tact with which people here respond to questions that might be called stupid in some other support forums.

                Thanks,

                Bob

I’m the only one allowed to ask stupid questions around here... ;-)

It took me a while to find both of those features myself, despite the fact that I’ve set up SMF forums several times and I’ve even read most of the documentation. Ryan was the first person to tell me about the Ignore Boards rules, and I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t noticed that before. But there it was in plain sight - once he told me where to look for it.

Good tips. These will make my life a bit smoother.

This is a funny thread, half the posts refer to the creation of a forum module/snippet and the others comment on this forum.

Ability to see own posts will be a godsend. I can’t seem to find me if it’s there. Currently i can see only the posts that have been replied to and those too if they are still unread by me. Am i missing something?

PS: I see zap has already answered that question. sorry for the dumb post
