could not agree more with Susan !

A light core plus a lot of modules that you could add in a structured way.

    for example :

Full web user control module, profiles, permissions, photos etc.

    Blog module using the above

    e-commerce module

    forum module

    etc.

I know this is really off topic but I think that it is important that the community agree (in so far as this is possible) how ModX (and maybe Tattoo) should move forward. One thing is sure, it can never be all things to all people.

      sorry my mistake embarrassed

although with all the modx sites i have made, I don’t think I have ever not used user groups, document groups, roles etc, if not just to make one login for me and one for the client...

I do think the manager could be reduced and refined (it’s a bit abstruse) but it would be a mistake to remove it from the core distribution.

I’ve only had to use document groups and roles in about 25% of the sites I’ve made; the rest have all been managed by me and one or two other full admins. A basic manager setup would be perfect for these situations. Given that the manager will be radically different in 0.9.7, I bet this will be possible then.

I just want to repeat that mind-mapping is already complete..(read posts before)
The only thing is that it needs to be implemented, which is no problem at all.
Ok sIFR is not really neccessary but a very nice to have. Like I said before, forums contain incredibly much information, this information needs to get managed and optically finetuned.

A very important new thing which goes around these days is a hCard (businesscard, sedcard, whatever..).
hCard is a "microformat", please add microformats, xfn etc..
They are web2 technologies and simplify the whole complex ontology.

Giving the user "power" into the hand makes him happier!
I mean we should code ui-tools like kudos, winks, emoticons, rings, shouts, animoticons and perhaps voice-even voice-messages(rm,ogg,mp4,mp3), p2p-voice-chat (ventrilo, teamspeak, skype) and p2p-video-chat(a php solution, maybe with gtk).

Indeed, a major component of the MODx 1.0 vision includes the ability to create and extend manager pages in the same way you do front-end pages. This allows us to simplify the architecture, reducing the code required power the model (the data) and construct views (the pages) in the manager (and elsewhere). So it will be very likely that either starting with 0.9.7, or shortly thereafter, MODx will allow you to install a very simple, minimal manager interface and user model, then allow you to add, replace, or extend the model and/or manager pages easily.

Endusers never experienced an easier frontend while offering endless options.

EDIT: Still stands, but this will very likely be Jot based, as that’s a damn fine wheel.

Should I use JOT or ie. SMF i the future? I would like to have a pure MODx-forum, and this looks good. smiley
I think, thererfor I am! But what I am, and why...?

Looks great but what I would like is the ability to show replies to your posts as well as showing unread posts and a quick reply box. A spell checker would also be very nice as well as a WYSIWYG editor.

                  Cheers

I think semantik features have actually not the highest priority, due to the massive efforts needed to realize smart objects.
The Vision of Tim Berners Lee Web 3.0
OK, let’s chill down, the net is actually web 1.5 and we’re on the way. web 2.0 just has a boom
So you know what the priorities are.
I think you need to build a php forum module for jot which can folowing:
(I don’t count features that MODx already has, which can be tapped on)

-- of theres so many I forgot.. u know the basiscs we need ;-) at least for a web2.0 forum
                    - oh the self organization feature would be the most awesome plugin ever! too bad I guess you won’t implement this
                    - Seamless work within the entire MODx interface (No, hacks etc., easy integration)
User Profile integration like my forum avatar, or my last posts etc.
                    - Extendable API (ie.: Polls Method, Badfilter Method...)
                    - Per user/group customizable forum
                    - Quickreply
                    - Full featured WYSIWYG Editor (Word import, Standards compliancy, Spellcheck, etc.)
I simply guess this is even harder than creating the forum, except we use a third party solution
                    - Syndication, Trackback, Pingback, Permalink

                      Hi,
The boards of this forum have arranged very well, everyone can find what he want very easily.
But a board for beginners can be very useful for beginners who has simple questions about MODx; here is forum for discussion and support for user’s problems and it is not important that what the problems are, MODx is growing and new people are joining to it everyday and MODx should make a free space for users and shouldn’t let them shaming for their question, MODx has some powerful rival that show it’s features and members responsibility to let people choose the best choice(MODx).
so new members and beginners always exist and creating a board for them will help them faster and will improve forum organization.
In fact i love MODx and i like it’s improvement more and more.

                      Good luck forever
