Magento Ecommerce 1.0 Out

Late to the party I know

Magento is going really good, we ourselves are developing Magento eCommerce sites. its very flexible and powerful but does require a reasonable level of skill and server hadrware. If you just want a good eCommerce solution to work with MODx, and you don’t need all the features of Magento, Foxycart is a good choice.

Magento is not a CMS and I think at some point it will be worth talking to anyone using Magento and Modx to explore the best approach that could be taken to integration and how we might share that development work. Would be a very nice combination indeed.

This post arrived to my inbox and got me excited for a very few second because I thought a good soul made a Magento Module/Plugin to Modx

About bridging Magento to Modx, I vaguely remember reading a post that someone was asking help from Magento team about problem he ran into trying to integrate Magento to Modx. Someone else responded that due to Modx’s code, it’s difficult (or impossible).

Can Modx team verify this?

Not impossible ... it’s code after all ... but not simple by any stretch of the imagination. The exact opposite could just as easily be said.

As a user (not coder!) of Modx, I love it’s ease of use, I have recently added Magento to my server for a friend, it is also great, BUT, there is NO cms it IS just a cart.

I would love to be able to add pages as easily to magento as I can with ModX.

Perhaps instead of full admin integration, possibly just to be able to insert Modx pages?

Why not create complementary templates and run them side-by-side, or on a subdomain for the store? What level of integration do you really need?
