Clipboard not working

Firefox by default does not allow cut-and-paste into form fields for security reasons. This is an issue with Firefox. Have you tried pasting the text using the ctrl-v keyboard shortcut?

We have. Maye you should read them over again. Have you tried what the Firefox message tells you to do? Use the ctrl-v keyboard combination to paste the content?

A quick search in Google on "firefox cut copy paste" came up with numerous results with the same thing.

prospectsproof, you do not have the correct attitude towards things; if you are going to be like this with everything I suggest you leave now. I could phrase that suggestion in two words, but I won’t.

RTE’s and Mozilla

A general problem with the usage of RTE’s and Mozilla is the restrictive copy and paste handling. Mozilla gives and error message if you try to paste content into the RTE. But you can configure Mozilla to allow pasting for one or more specific domains (or IP’s).

I found it very hard to find the right user preferences file which you have to edit, especially if both Mozilla and Firefox are installed. I think the easiest way to change the preferences is with the chromEdit extension. You can get it here: http://cdn.mozdev.org/chromedit/

After installation you have a menu entry under the tools menu called “Edit User Files”. This opens an editor for the different preferences files. Choose user.js and the following code into the box.

As you see you can define some URL’s separated by spaces you want to allow  pasting for.

I used chromedit, followed all instructions still no luck. Tried another suggested extension, Allow Clipboard Helper, no luck. Tried the cut and paste( by the way cut paste works everywhere else on firefox EXCEPT for the web site editor MODx) to the user.js file no luck. Then I came here to see if someone here has a suggestion, no luck with suggestions so far.

Do you have third-party extensions added to Firefox? I cannot reproduce this behavior whatsoever.

What version of MODx are you running? FYI, MODx per se doesn’t author any editors, but it does integrate some third-party applications. It’s likely you’re using either TinyMCE or FCKeditor; both have shipped as default RTEs with different versions of MODx. It’s also possible you have a corrupt file and might need to re-upload the install, as FTP is not 100% foolproof.

Since you’ve still not provided the version of MODx you’re running (there have been 9 releases to date) the only solution I can offer is to wait for a few more hours and update to 095 release, and switch to TinyMCE. FCKeditor can be a bit buggy, as you’re discovering.
