    Most probably I’m overlooking something very obvious, but being a newbie ...

    Everytime I’m trying to change a document in the manager (edit resource) I see this message:

    "Document is linked to site_start variable and cannot have publish or unpublish dates set!"

    Why?

    Any toughts?

    thx

    Thomas

      As the message states, you have a Resource that is set as site_start in System Settings and you are attempting to set a date on which the Resource will be published or unpublished automatically. Since your site_start must always be published and accessible to anonymous visitors, you are not allowed to set these future publish/unpublish dates on this Resource.

        That makes sense, however ...

        Why do I get the same message just by trying to adding/changing some content? - (that was worth another post http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,46960.msg276113.html#msg276113
        Or is it that the home page content should never be changed after it has been published ... how boring would that be?

        Thanks for your support!

          I suspect that something is automatically inserting a publish date in that field, then when you try to save it the error is triggered. Try clearing the field, then save the document.

            maybe Chunk "mm_demo_rules" -> mm_default(’pub_date’);

              Ah, yes, that would do it... I always immediately remove that from a new installation, since it seems to cause a number of problems. Perhaps there is some way of only installing that chunk if the demo content button is on? Or maybe that rule can be modified to omit the site_start document?

                  assuming you’re running Evolution 1.0.2 with ManagerManager installed, there’s a default demo Chunk "mm_demo_rules" under "Elements" -> "Manage Elements" -> "Chunks"

                  one of the first rules in that Chunk "mm_default(’pub_date’);" will automatically set a pub_date when a ressource is created...if you don’t want that to happen, disable it:
                  // mm_default('pub_date');

                    Why would you automatically set a future publishing date (which is what pub_date is)? Don’t you mean to be setting publishedon?

                      Thanks

                      ### extract ###
                      // For everyone
                      mm_default(’pub_date’);
                      mm_renameField(’introtext’,’Summary’);

                      do I comment ’pub_date’ out or not? (that chink is under "Demo Content" is that OK?!
