Watching this made me excited to get started on organising a Dutch meetup..

Here’s a few questions that would be amazing if you guys could fill it out (Dutch/English, whatever you prefer). If you don’t want to or don’t have time to go through them all in detail, just answer what is most important to your personally.
- What would you like to get out of a meetup, or what would be your goal of attending one?
- What are points of discussion you would like to discuss?
- What is the maximum time you would be willing to travel to get to the location of the meetup?
- Would you be expecting a day-long event, or just a number of hours?
- If you have anything specific you think that could benefit others, would you be willing to do a presentation on that?
- If you would come, would you come alone or are there others in your company/network that could be interested?

Based on this feedback and some other things I hope to be able of wrapping up a preliminary plan and put some stuff into action to make this work!

The presentation was very succesful. It was mainly wordpress and magento developers in the room and there were some real ooohs and aaahs when I started talking avout TVs and form customization. I’ll be doing the same presentation next week in Almere, but that one cant be attended and wont be recorded, sorry about that


About the meetup
I think there are two types of events: develop meetups and congres-like meetups. For this developer meetup i’d start around 15.00/16.00? 2 or 3 talks and besides that a lot of talking about anythingwhich comes up I guess...

I see you would mainly be looking for a developer meeting then?

Like you said, there can be several different kind of meetups, and I think the different people who posted here so far may have different intentions, or goals as I put them in my previous post.


Yesterday I witnessed the Houston meet up, and I sort of liked how they did it. Started off with basics, but touching on some of the more advanced features such as ACLs, Form Customizations and contexts. Most of that meeting came from questions from the "audience" too, so that’s nice and I think we shouldn’t be looking for minute-to-minute directed meetings, but some sort of agenda could help cover something everyone finds interesting

We could do a session on VisionCart and developing on modx

would like to talk to modxers about anything.

central location would be good. max 1 / 1,5 hour drive from Almelo

According to Google Maps it’s 1h 27m from Almelo, lol!

For future reference: the location I have available and this meetup would take place in ’t Vlechtwerk, which is at Mandehof 13, 8391 Noordwolde. It’s not central NL, but I can use it without costs and the 1h40m border goes from Den Helder, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Veenendaal, Nijmegen, and everything in between that, so still quite accessible for half of the Netherlands. It could be the North Dutch Meetup, and someone else could work something out in the Randstad or more southern to include Belgium too.

I don’t want the monopoly of the dutch meetups, so others shouldn’t feel like they can’t set one up because I’m doing this one

I’d really like to know more about VisionCart. It would be nice to have some developers show their (MODX) workflow and maybe some projects. I’d be willing to do a small presentation about MODX Templating as well...

Continue in Dutch btw? I doubt any foreign would be interested in a Dutch meetup anyway.

About the meetup. Sterc will certainly be repersented (by multiple people). We’ve also been planning a MODX meetup for the Netherlands for some time now, so I guess we should team up and get this thing going. We were planning on holding at our office in Surhuisterveen. It’s easily reachable from the A7 (2 turns), but it’s in Friesland, just like Mark’s location. There are some benefits however:

- Full featured conference room with wireless in the whole building
- Beamer available
- 60 square meter room with room for up to 40 people
- Free

Je vergeet dat Friesland prachtige natuurschoon heeft en Beerenburg!

Friesland klinkt heel leuk, maar voor iemand die tegen de Belgische grens woont, is dat helaas niet te doen. Neemt niet weg dat jullie zeker met die plannen door moeten gaan. Misschien is een tweede meetup ergens in het centrum van Nederland ook een goed idee.
