ModX is very flexible, because you can (or should) put your dirty codes anywhere. That’s what this community like because most of us are developers (which particularly need a complete documentation
).
Although you will go no where to reach a "Mom’s Guide to Use ModX", what you have done will give a positive influence for the common users.
I’m thinking that you can touch some available snippets to make the guidance easier to be understood, like
Front-end Document Manager or a kind.
