it just /* edit: seems to be */ the right thing to do - delete - i’m no tinfoil hat at all, it’s just getting too much and they don’t handle their business right.
even if they change their privacy settings back to where it was ( they only will because bad press is getting too much ) when i signed up, i won’t go back. it’s such a dodgy & sneaky way they are going. and dealing with a lot of private data, opt-out privacy settings should be a no brainer! ... and i haven’t started talking about the FB like buttons. bleah. and it’s not that i only take ( their service provided for free ), it’s me, being a member that’s bringing value to their company. whatever smiley

Hey, I don’t have a FB account but a lot of my clients sure do. And everyone of them is eager to place a FB button on their websites, and many want to embed FB discussions on their homepages. I’ve been totally neutral so far, but now I’m beginning to wonder. What are you telling your clients who are anxious to integrate FB with their websites?

I have a facebook account because it’s a great way to keep in contact with old and new friends, and to stay connected without having to deal with numerous emails and such. Since i have friends back home and here, and now I’m about to relocate again, it makes sense to me keep a FB account. I’m definitely not a huge fan of their privacy settings and games, but my philosophy has always been to watch what I say and do online, and not disclose anything I wouldn’t want to become common knowledge anyway.

So I restrict private and personal conversations and such to phone calls, and sometimes email, and I watch what I say.

Mostly I banter with my friends, share useful info about activities and mutual interests, and keep in touch with people I would otherwise have lost contact with ages ago!!

It’s also a great way to network.

        just my 2c

I can understand them. Facebook is an incredible place to publicize yourself, and it doesn’t cost a cent.

For example, with their new social plugins, if a user of your site "Likes" a page, on the user wall on Facebook it will appear something like "<Username> likes <Your page> on <Your site>"

and this is visible in his friends’ home! So, if they click there, they land to YOUR site!

One guy with one click can potentially "publicize" your site to 200 "friends" or more.

And I’m not considering Facebook fan pages ad so on...
