What Do You Think of Facebook?

I’ve never had account in Facebook, but everybody ask me "have you FB?"

Facebook is good for business but for private use is rubbish because it steal the user’s personal information and give them to advertiser!

My take is: FB is, first and foremost, a ’for profit’ biz. You can make a decent amount of money by displaying advertising to your FB users -- but you could make a mint by saving every bit of user’s data + history and then selling that to companies/corps. The repercussions of having all your personal data for sale will be felt for years to come. YMMV.

I dislike Facebook -- I have my own site. I have began to implement some of FB’s openGraph into my site to get more traffic. Sadly, too many people get caught up in the mindless drivel of social networking.

Use it for a purpose -- and then slowly back away......

I don’t like Facebook. But I admit that I must have an account.

I play in a band, and Facebook is a great tool to organize events and publicize yourself, since here in Italy almost everyone has got an account. Also, I can contact a lot of pubs just by sending a message to them.

I never post anything with my account, but having a FanPage is a must.

Here in Italy you can reach a lot of people with Facebook. With MySpace you can’t.

I just use it to find old friends, and it works perfect.
Not much personal info to share, they already know me...

it seemed like the thing to do to promote my new site, signed up and suggested people who I knew even though I signed up with my company’s name, these weren’t clients mind you but people I knew from years ago and haven’t had much contact with since, never used facebook before and a couple people I contacted said they hadn’t even mentioned me on facebook or their websites (if they had em)... talk about privacy concerns, deleted immediately and of course even then they don’t just let you go...feel like al pacino in the godfather part III.

Facebook has been in the news a lot lately with their blatant

I’ve yet to go to this extreme, but I do agree that Facebook is

information is visible, and what parts you or your friends might
be sharing with the world, unbeknown to you. I’ve always stayed
on top of my privacy settings, so I was a little shocked to find
out that third-party applications my friends were using had
access to my profile.

Your Open Book shows the world just how open Facebook is with
its new privacy settings. It’s effectively a search engine for
profiles, and it’s amazing how much info is shared there.

Deleting Your Account

Finally, if you want to delete your account (and all the data on
it), check out this WikiHow article [3]. It’s incredibly
complicated and many people have reported problems, but the
article outlines several different ways to try and delete your
account. It’s a good bet that one of them will work.
