Eclipse, PHPEclipse and SVN

Could you explain more about this? It sounds very intriguing. O_o So I can set up a PHP context in Revolution, and somehow set up an IDE to edit MODx templates? That’s pretty cool! I’ll be using Netbeans or Aptana (have to try both out before I decide), but I’d assume I accomplish the same things with these IDEs.

Personally, I’d avoid Aptana like the plague. I tried it and it was useless to me. Besides, it’s just Eclipse with all the functionality closed off and overtaken by their proprietary extensions.

I have no experience with NetBeans.

Thanks for the advice! I’m actually already leaning towards NetBeans, but I figured I wouldn’t rule Aptana out just yet. I have heard a lot of bad things about it, though, and I’ve heard a lot of good things about NetBeans.

FWIW...Aptana was so sluggish when I tried it..Komodo edit wasn’t any better.

EditPlus isn’t an IDE, though. I use Notepad++ for everything and love it, but I want to see how it is using a full featured IDE for development.

I never succeed in installing Eclipse with php css html plugins . Aptana worked ok for a while till they released some updates that broke the FTP. It took them 3 days to fix.
I decided to try CODA and it’s not bad. There’s still room for improvements.

I like using Eclipse PDT for any PHP stuff and almost everything else related to coding and dev work. Aptana is waaaaay too sluggish. Komodo Edit is my second favorite code editor but for PHP coding nothing beats Eclipse PDT for me. Haven’t really explored all its features though, just concentrating on developing and testing in PHP right now.
