domain search box?

I’m setting up a website for my course based around a hosting company and I was wondering how I could include a box to check for available domains. Does anyone know what I can do to include this?

Maybe Max’s Whois?

There are others but I’ve struggled finding any good ones.

Hey thanks, I just checked that out. Looks promising. Any idea how I could have this in my modx site?

It should just be able to be included and instantiated by a snippet.

Hi, I created a snippet called domain and put the above code with in the php tags. Uploaded the files in to the snippet folder called domain and used the basic snippet call of [!domain? !] and it didn’t work...

Ok i just tested it and once you type in a domain to check it take me to www.ysite.com/index.php with no results or the same page it was on. I’m guessing a little more editing will be required.

I just took a quick look at it, and it does look like it will need some customization. Also, make sure your snippet is called uncached ( [!...!] )

I managed to sort the script by changing the $_SERVER[’PHP_SELF’] to $_SERVER[’REQUEST_URI’] which stopped it going to the index.php.

Works fine apart from I can’t get the search to work for searching co.uk domains. I edited it exactly how it said and it just won’t find these domains.

Anyway I found a free ajax domain search and I think I would prefer to use this. Could someone give me some help setting this up to work with modx?

I have tried to apply the same idea that was shown above but there’s more to this script and I can’t get it to function in modx. I can get it working out with modx but would like it integrated, naturally.

hey, thanks for showing your domain search... looks nice but I do like the ajax one a little more. I also want to learn how to mod other php/ajax scripts so they work in modx. The more help I get with them the more i pick up. If anyone can check the zip i upped and see what they can do, that would be great.
