Common causes of error 404 in ModX?

I tried your link and randomly got the 404 page using the menu.
The url was being made correctly, so I don’t think it’s Wayfinder.
One of my sites is on a Windows IIS server and causes no real problems.
Might be worth moving out of the dev folder, can’t really see how it would help but....
You don’t have an .htaccess file in your root do you?

Hmm I cant figure it out its driving me nuts.
The only thing I figure is it must be the server environment, (which unfortuantely Im not entirely sure what it is)

I did have the .htaccess in the root, but I removed it and it still has the problem. I also have freindly urls turned off.

I think Im just going to try another host.

From the cursory review of your issues DfX, definitely sounds suspiciously like an overloaded shared server.

It sound horrible. I got the 404 screen clicking on the menu item for the about page and the contact page. When I hit "refresh" in my browser, the pages showed up. There’s nothing so frustrating as an intermittent problem.

Given the symptoms, it’s really unlikely that there’s anything wrong with your code or installation.

I would be inclined to blame either the host for over-selling the space (as RThrash suggests) or Bill Gates, just on general principles (he’s now got me in Windows Vista Hell so I’m slamming him whenever I get a chance .
