IE flashing

Well, the VirtualPC setup does cause some odd results at times. But I don’t get any whole page flashing white between page loads.

Try picking a color very close to your background image’s color, then use an IE conditional to set the body background that color in <style...> tags in the template head. That’s kind of extreme, but it might help.

i have done that already in my main style sheet, does not seem to make a difference.

I was thinking that it may take a few seconds for the stylesheet to load; if the background is in the head of the HTML itself it would lose that lag.

i have just tried it and it did not make a difference. its appears that any background image flashes white at each page load.

my backgrounds are set like this:

background:url(/assets/templates/mysite/img/logo.gif) no-repeat 30px 20px;

am i doing anything wrong?

It didn’t flash for me in IE7 just now. What you’re describing does sound exactly like a FOUC. And usually having a Javascript include fixes that, but you can also use the alternate method of including your CSS file.

Have you cleared your browser’s cache since you made changes? I don’t have an IE6 machine here right now, but I don’t see anything that should cause this. Perhaps you’ve already fixed it but need to clear your cache (Ctrl+Refresh) in order to view it properly?

One other idea: Sometimes I have found that separating my background CSS declarations into multiple lines (instead of using the combination background declaration) seems to resolve mysterious issues like this.

good to know its not flashing for everyone!

I have a javascript include, but i will try the import method and breaking my background declarations up.
