What browsers/platforms do you test on?

I think most peoples would agree with you but, i have been really impressed with IE7. For my last few sites i have had had to make not one hack/concession for it; what works in firefox seems to work in ie7.

Can’t agree with you. IE has it’s own issues same as FF. Unless Microsoft copied FF’s CSS file right after stealing Tab browsing.

I use Opera, particularly during early stages of development for development work for several reasons:

• If it works in Opera, it pretty much works in all browsers (various IE quirks excepted)
• The ease of switching on/off CSS and JavaScript
• The ability to use custom style-sheets
• Web page dimensions shown in title bar
• A true MDI interface, not at TDI
• There are some handy developer tools available
• It’s been my browser of choice since late 1998

At various milestones I will check development using IE5.5, IE6, IE7 & Firefox 1.5. Must add Firefox 2 to the list. The Mac is a bit more problematical, as I don’t own one. However, I do have occasional access to one where I check using Safari and IE.

I avoid browser specific hacks wherever possible, but sometimes they are a necessary evil to make the various versions of IE behave. When hacks are used, it’s vitally important to test on as many browsers a possible.
