I have one browser installed which I never surf other than secure/known/local webpages and therefore trust using the password reminder function. Is this a bad idea? //Yes KeePass rocks

Sounds like a good idea to me smiley

Switched over to firefox a week ago, never want to go back to internet explorer for primary use lipsrsealed

It’s a huge difference, websites open much faster in FF then in IE. Did never see the difference, but after using it with web 2.0 applications I saw the difference! And the add-ons (like MeasureIT, Colorzilla, webdeveloper toolbar) are way to cool!!
        with regards,

Most of the time, I use Opera 9.6.

I’m still using Firefox 3 when I need Firebug for debugging purposes, especially for the "Inspect" mode that allows to explore margins, padding and border sizes in a graphical manner.

I like Opera very much as it is fast.
Bugs when displaying pages (as there were in older versions like the 7) were practically totally removed.
I also like a lot the fact that Opera automatically re-opens the lastly visited pages and allows to save sessions (i.e. set of opened tabs), but maybe other browsers also do.

There is also something fantastic with Opera : search shortcuts, which replace any search bar.
For instance, you type in the adress bar
          g red cars
to make a Google search on red cars
          y blue ships
to make a Yahoo search on blue ships
          and
          w green cards
to make a Wikipedia research on green cards.

I have heard of Opera 9.6 and I’ll definitely test it out... yet, I’d like Chrome to come to the Mac world !

In the meantime, I mostly use Firefox and... Site specific browsers thanks to Fluid (kudos to Ryan for pointing me to it)

Regardless of Chrome’s smooth rendering i doubt that it would beat the Opera’s less memory usage!
I will use Chrome if it offers some (original) Googlelized outputs i.e Google Ranks, analytics, Maps, Doc’s, Fav’s
Anyway i still use and love opera 9.27,  FF 3 & IE 7, opera for a regular site visits and FF for bug resolving and development purposes and IE is the same old checking tool lol, OK i like BillGate’s products!

                To stoke this fire again.

Last week in the frustration of constantly having to restart Firefox and having memory issues I jumped onto using Safari Beta 4 for everything but debugging projects. It’s lighter, seems fairly stable and more responsive than Firefox w/ a few plugins installed.

That being said, Safari is not imperfect. It seems to have a slow initial page render and I miss a couple of my Firefox addons.

I have considered and suggested to others about running two instances of Firefox by installing a clean version from PortableApps in a seperate folder which would be less of a pig for day to day browsing.

I still use IE6 and I think it’s the best browser out there a part from IE5 of course. grin

FF has some major memory issues when using multiple tabs and the modx manager... I have seen it hitting as high as 700mb of physical ram usage with just 8 tabs open. It does feel rather clunky but it does have the best addons and does represent your design how it should be seen.

Safari is not bad... it does have some CSS issues that I saw but overall it’s ok. Similar to IE it does require some CSS hacks.

IE7 is better than 6 but still has CSS issues... it seems to be 3-5px out with some alignments etc so hopefully IE8 will sort that out..................................... time will tell!

Chrome is really nice, it’s fast and lightweight however it doesn’t support RSS that I see? Well there’s no template or something as it just displays the raw text feed. Also there are some elements that are similar to IE6 and require CSS hacks.

Opera is pretty good, I found it similar to FF representation of sites.

I will use any browser that work, doesn’t crash and displays a true representation of a site design.

Overall I use FF the most due to firebug etc but the memory use and the over all clunky feeling does stop it from being a true great.

I use Opera, Chrome, IE and Safari for testing, Firefox for coding and dev work, and for general browsing I alternate between Firefox and Chrome.
