I find that startling. I don’t believe I’ve ever come across a programmer who finds zero merit in OOP for web applications. But then again, programming style is as personal as the kind of car you drive!

It’s really Good idea to teach basic PHP and MySQL.I have little bit knowledge of PHP and i want to learn more about it and this will be helpful for me. thanks...

This is a great thread and I too am a php wannabe. I find it hard to grasp no matter how many tutorials I read through. I just cannot seem to put it together like I should. I thought that with it being defined as a language there might be a structure of sorts like vowels, verbs, adjectives, sentences, pargraphs etc in the english language but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I like the video link as hopefully I will find the time to go through it all. Maybe it is just me...Oh well I’ll keep pluggin along through the links provided here.

Just a note. My book, (due "real soon now"), has a PHP Primer in the Appendix.

It does have structures like a "spoken" language. Nouns are variables. Verbs are functions.

Sentences are statements that end with a ; instead of . They can range from

Objects are like short stories; they encapsulate all of the variables and functions that will be used to deal with a "topic", such as logging in/logging out a user. Or, as in the case of even MODx Evo, the document parser object, which contains all the variables (pagetitle, content, etc) related to the page being generated, and all of the functions that process the MODx tags in the original resource and template.

Is there somewhere that lays out some examples such as you provided? That is where I struggle trying to figure out how to say what I want to say not knowing what each function or variables actually stand for or mean. Or even how to structure them to say what I want to say.

By the way the free video tutorial I found while browsing through the links provided is not too bad other than the memorizing portion as I’m not good with understanding his methods of image memorizing. Still I’m learning more than at other tutorials I’ve tried.
