I finally decided to integrat my own template into Modx and it worked beautifully. The only problem is you can only see the site while you are logged in to the MODx Manager, as soon as you log out you loose evrything except the background colour.

    Site is www.mtcbuilders.com
    Hosted at fatcow.com
    PHP Version 5
    MySql Version: 5.0.91
    Server Name: mtcbuilderscom.fatcowmysql.com

Any Ideas, I have attached the css file and the template code is below

If you can see the page when previewing from the Manager, there can’t be anything wrong with the CSS or HTML -- the problem has to be something else.

          What version of MODx?

Any errors in the MODx error log with times corresponding to when the page is blank?

The only errors in the log I can see are 6 MODx Parse Errors, I assume because I have been clearing out the cache...

Very strange it seems to loose evrything except for the bg colour from the css...

the only Config error showing is

Configuration warning: ’GD and/or Zip PHP extensions not found’

                  What does this mean?
MODx needs the GD and Zip extension enabled for PHP. While MODx will work without them, you will not be able to take full advantage of the built-in File Manager, Image Editor or Captcha for logins.

I would not have thought this would cause this problem...

It won’t. All that means is that you can’t zip/unzip from the Manager’s file manager if it’s a lack of zip support; if it’s the gd libraries missing then TinyMCE won’t be able to make its thumbnails for images. There’s only one reason why you get those error messages for the cache files, and that is a permissions problem. The parser checks for the existence of a cached file, and if it doesn’t exist simply builds the page from the database. If it can’t get permission to write the cache file, you’ll get that error. Or if the cache file exists, but the parser (PHP) doesn’t have permission to read it, but that makes no sense since the parser (PHP) writes the file in the first place - unless you’ve got some really strange default permissions on your server! I have had this happen twice now on one client’s site, a random page’s cache file was written, but the permissions were at 000, which meant that it exists but can’t be read or written. The PHP is_file() function that the parser uses only checks if the file exists at all, not if it can be read or written. He’s also getting occasional database failure, so my diagnosis is an overloaded and/or badly configured shared server.

I’m loading up your posted template and CSS to see how it behaves for me. I don’t ever use the @include with CSS, I always just use <link> tags, although that shouldn’t make a difference. If you’re getting the background color, then the CSS file is getting loaded. But I’ll see what happens and get back to you.

Thank you!! the strangest thing is the site works perfectly as long as I’m logged in to the MODx Manager, and as soon as you log out and refresh the preview page it all simply dissapears. I have tried using a different server http://integratedmedia.com.au/mtc/ and get the same error. It’s got me stumped!! :’(
