i am a noob at this, Ive installed Modx without much of a problem but i cant get any template to work. Ive checked the modx manual and have been searching the forums but i cant seem to find out why this isnt working.
I have:
-tried multiple templates from the free template bank here on modx to make sure that it wasnt just one bum code
-made sure my css paths were correct
-tried multiple troubleshooting pages on here.
below is a screenshot of what im getting no matter what i do. I feel like its something very basic to be affecting any template i use.
thanks in advance

After installing a template, have you actually used it, either by setting the resource’s Uses Template setting, or setting it as the default template in your configuration?
Which version of MODx did you install?

I created a resource (a content one) and used it as the template. when i click preview on that resource i get the screenshot above.
i JUST downloaded modx so its the newest one (i believe its called evolution)

This may sound obvious, but I’ve done this several times: have you uploaded all of the files associated with the template? If so, double-check that the links in the template to css, images, etc. match the paths in the file system (including links to background images in linked css files).

ive checked the links in the template to make sure they are going the correct paths (CSS, Images etc). and i have made sure all the files are copied.
the troubleshooting links that i mentioned in my first post are actually the same ones you just sent me:)
i feel link its something very basic, the problem im running into is that even after i follow the steps in the manual, AND on the links you sent me- I still cant get this to work.

its on my local host, so im not sure you can log in from the web. . . .
it seems like every time i save something it puts in these "\\\" at random points in the code (even when i try to upload an image)
i feel like that could be the culprit on why things arent working, but i have no idea why its happening or how to stop it.
