Hi everybody, I am intending to modify the modx host template and one of the things I would like to do is to remove the second (right) column from the template. I managed to find where the content was that was contained in the column, but it persists though blank. Thanks smiley mostly just messing around to learn please have a look. Thanks : ) Screenshot attached and can be found at http://www.thetanklive.com

Do you require 1 single column the full width?

I had a look at default template.

You would have to delete sidebar div in Template

Change content width in CSS (I think to page width).

Delete sidebar CSS and should work.

          I have not tried it!!!

I always make bachup copies of files before modifying. (ye ye) huh

Ok Thank You Allan that worked. I found it and modified the background image to not show the gray section on the right as well.

The next thing I am hoping to do is embed a flash banner I have a sample one up right now at http://www.thetanklive.com but as you can see it is cut off by the menu buttons where it picks up again above them (would like it below the menu). I did this by adding it to the template html.

Unfortunately if I put my flash banner even one div tag further it results in the flash movie kicking to the bottom of the content. You might also notice it is right on top of the text in the page where I would like the content to begin after this. I could try and embed it into each page but I would like it to appear on all pages and thus be part of the template.

Is there a proper way to do this, or a plugin? You might also notice that it is not quite centered in the content but slightly to the left (Maybe just 1 or 2 pixels) Thanks smiley Perhaps the CSS also needs to be altered slightly to accommodate this new item (would make sense).

Also here is the code in the template html with my movie embedded:

                <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

I have to admit this is a little over my head.

I have not had time to study it properly but I would guess you would have to make place for your movie code in the CSS which from the order in the template code must be positioned by the CSS as header comes after Content.

Hope this is of some use.

Thanks Allan this makes sense I will give it a try smiley. I’m a CSS lightweight currently but so far I have been able to make things work as I want them to through sheer blunt force and stubbornness.

Try putting your flash call just after the inner tag. I.e. move everything in-between-and-including the opening and closing center tags to just after the inner tag.
PS Then change the value for "padding-top" in the styling for the inner tag to something like 120 from 143px..
