    I am sorry to post here but I cannot find the answer to this question anywhere on the internet. I have a site set up on MODX which is great! I now want to replicate the exact same site and put it on a different URL. Does anyone know how to do this? I have spent considerable time setting up templates with various snippets, chunks etc and it would take me ages to do all this again, even with the headstart I have! Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

        Hi, I tried all this and it produced the rar/zip file. However, when I try to open it it says:

        ’the file is either in unknown format or damaged’

        Is this normal?

          Well, I doubt that’s normal. I’ve used it and it works.
          EDIT : Actually, what I’ve used is this

            They are just not for laymans these things...the instructions are always unclear to me! Tried that one and get errors as well, wish someone would put an extremely simple guide up sometimes..take me 8 hours to do something that could take 5 minutes. sad

              What errors are you getting? As I recall, the easiest way to get it up and running was to install it in "standalone" mode in both the site that you want to back up and the location you want to install.

                There is also this if you’re using 1.0.2:

                The new MODx installer adds the time- and task-saving ability for developers to install MODx with their favorite and customizations of the Add-ons it handles.. Simply drop your snippets, chunks, plugins and modules into the relevant directories as .tpl files, add a phpDocs formatted header, and the installer automatically presents the choices for you to install the Elements directly into the MODx database. The 1.0.2 installer corrects an issue in the previous release that could lose the content type/disposition for non-admin users. The upgrade script should correct these during the installation routine.

                ----------

                No solid examples of course. I’m assuming the .tpl files are exactly the same as the content of chunks, snippets, etc. But I don’t know how to setup a phpDocs formatted header but perhaps looking at the install files gives us an example.

                  Hi Matt, I changed the config.inc.php file to this, I also created a directory called ’backup’ on my root server and placed the files from the zip download in it:

                  // Protect this file! It contains sensitive information about your website.

                  // ==================================================
                  // SECURITY
                  // ==================================================

                  login = true
                  timeout = 0
                  activity = false

                  user_pass0 = myusername,mypasssword
                  user_pass1 =
                  user_pass2 =
                  user_pass3 =
                  user_pass4 =
                  user_pass5 =
                  user_pass6 =

                  user_pass8 =

                  // THE END
                  // ==================================================

                  How do I run it this way then if this is stand alone? Any help much appreciated! Thanks

                  This is the response I get whichever way I do it:

                  ModelConfig::configSet - ERROR: missing required file: /manager/includes/config.inc.php

                  I ran in stand alone like this:

                  www.mywebsite.com/backup/index.php

                  Exactly the same response as when I tried it using MODX itself through the Modules so at least it’s consistent!

                    I think you would just point your browser to (in your example)
                    http://www.mywebsite.com/backup

                    What I would double check if I were you is the settings for base_path and dir0. This value would be found in the MODx configuration tab and might look something like this :
                    /home/mywebsite/public_html/
                    They should have the same value as the value assigned to MODX_BASE_PATH as seen under
                    Reports | System Info when you are logged in as administrator.

                    At least that’s my understanding of things.

                      Which field in the MODx configuration tab? Do you mean the Resource Patch or Resource URL possibly? Had a look in these and tried this out as well, to no avail...I cannot find this value wihthin MODx:

                      MODX_BASE_PATH

                      Scratching my head here!
