Installation Problems

Maybe this will help someone figure out if it is a server configuration issue:

I have no clue. Not being very technically minded is why I like MODx. It has worked flawlessly for me in the past. Of course it has never been installed on a windows host but I am at the mercy of the client this time. They have other ASP applications running on this site.

Any help in getting MODx up and running will be greatly appreciated!

match your system/database settings?

Yes they do.

I’ve been reading some comments in this forum saying that your version of php can be problematic under IIS and not really good for use on a production server.

thanks for the link however since I don’t have any control over the environment, since it is paid hosting, i guess this is the end of the road for me. I read the post you sent but don’t understand any of it. Thanks for you help though.

This may be related to a bug fixed in changeset 3168, and reported by our Founding Father, Raymond, shortly after 0.9.6.1 release. He was using IIS6 as well. I’ll get this into trunk and 0.9.6.2 preparations started to address this sooner than later. Let me know if that change fixes the problem for you.

Thank you for some direction. To clarify, does this mean that I may be able to change some code in my existing files to get it to work or do I need to wait until the next release?

You can download and apply the patch to the file, make the change manually to the file, or get the whole new version of the file from SVN, Trac or Fisheye.

ok I replaced my manager/includes/protect.inc.php with the one from the link you provided but I still get the same errors.

Must be some other kind of problem, likely regarding file permissions. Any IIS folks want to assist here?
