I am also having trouble with using MODx on GoDaddy. I uploaded it to my server, using the information already discussed in this thread and everything seemed to work perfectly. But when I tried to access the manager, I got this message: "Parse error: parse error, unexpected ’.’ in /home/content/t/h/e/theresabell/html/manager/index.php on line 122"
Does anyone know what this means, and/or what I need to do to fix this?

Errors like this are most often caused by an error in the FTP transfer that corrupts one or more files. Here are some things to try, in order of pain-in-the-buttedness (check the site after each):
- Re-upload /manager/index.php.
- Do another install (select upgrade install).
- Upload the whole manager folder again and do another upgrade install.
- Re-upload the whole ball of wax and do another upgrade install.
- Using PhpMyAdmin, drop all the tables in the MODx database - Then do a "new" install.
Important: Clear your browser cache and cookies before testing the site each time. Sometimes leftover stuff can make the site look broken even though it’s fixed.
Someone more familiar with GoDaddy might have a simpler suggestion.
Thank you so much, BobRay. Reinstalling it worked perfectly. Now, I just have to turn globals OFF and I think it is going to work.
Glad it worked.

I should also have suggested clearing your browser cache and cookies before testing the site each time. Sometimes leftover stuff can make the site look broken even though it’s fine.

99% of windows hosts that I know do support MySQL, perhaps look like a bad setup at godaddy.

I think MySQL is also not supported on most Windows hosting packages.
A few hours ago I have read terrible story about GoDaddy hosting. They obviously are pretty good as domain registrar, but you can find hundreds of negative reviews about their hosting services. I think that the domain registrars shall refrain of becoming web hosts, or if they want to enter the web hosting market to do this by creating completely different business entities.
