    Hi,

I’ve got friendly URL’s turnded on and working in modx Revo beta 5 - and everything is doing fine so far. All URL’s get rewritten to the specified alias and everything is working smoothly.

    Except for Google.

I’ve checked search results for my page on Google and it seems that all my pages are presented to googlebot with an additional GET parameter: The php session ID.

So, when the page should read something like:

    /news.html

    Google fetched the page with:

    /news.html?PHPSESSID=e7pirgqfj1kgtf12a56ejj02m2

Why is this SID string appended to the URL and why does only Google see this kind of links? Any idea what could have gone wrong here?

    Thanx for your help,
    Paul

Do you mean that the long string url is appearing in Google search results?

        Exactly.

I’m afraid that every time google comes along my links, it’ll fetch the same page with another Session-ID. That would be bad.

Do a search for "artefactur" (www.artefactur.com) and you’ll see what I mean - the result for the main page is ok, but the results for all other pages are not wink

        Thanx & greetings, Paul

The links in your pages have the PHPSESSID appended. This is why Google sees them. Why are you appending the PHPSESSID to your links? If you are not, then something is wrong with your PHP session configuration (maybe session.use_cookies is disabled for some reason).

Hm, I didn’t add them in any way and I probably would never do wink (If I ever needed to handle a session ID with variables, I’d use POST instead of GET for that).
And: If you take a look at the site with a browser of your choice, the links are clean and get rewritten correctly without the php Session ID.

That’s why I wonder why only Google sees the php Session ID appended as a GET parameter? Any ideas how to deal with this problem and how to solve it?

            Thnx for your help!

Must be automatically being added by your PHP configuration, as I said previously. Get your session configuration fixed. Who is your host or are you running your own server?

No, I’m not running my own server - my host is www.goneo.de (a german provider that’s quite OK IMO as they have none of the usual restrictions preconfigured - and I’m allowed to override the php configs as well as use my own htaccess files). And as far as I can see there’s nothing wrong with the cookie and session setup:

Or is it the local session.save_handler value that’s set to user? Just a guess, as I must admit. I’ve already tested the site in a browser with cookies disabled, but this makes no difference, the links are still rewritten correctly without the PHPSESSID parameter being appended.

                Thanx & Greetings, Paul

Seems like session.save_handler should be files, not user; otherwise this indicates you have a custom session.save_handler set. This is MODx Evolution right (i.e. 0.9.x/1.x release)?

I’m clueless then, but I’ve never had this problem on any configuration I have with either Revo or Evo. Try session.use_only_cookies On maybe?
