Login problems when moving site to live hosting

I would do an upgrade install, making sure not to overwrite with the demo content.

I think you’re site will fail if EVERYTHING is set to 777... I tried this once. Setting everything to 755 made it work, just with a couple errors about specific directories (e.g. cache) being unwritable.

problem solved (cause was Media Temple) apparently they don’t support MODx, not on their gs anyway. Took them 12 hours to get back to me >:( >:( Wish I had know this was the issue sooner. Project needed to be online yesterday.

Anyway went with TMDhosting, site was up in minutes. They even did the transfer for me

What? We have several MODx sites running on their grid servers.
