Login problems when moving site to live hosting

Hi hope someone can point me in the right direction. I have read and followed the: http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Moving_Site_To_Another_Location

I have got to step 8. But when I navigate to www.mydomain.com/manager my login fails and I get the following error message:

I did forget to create a new user for my new database on my live host. Could this have caused the problem???
Instead I used the defaul username and password that has access to all my SQL databases.
OR
Did the export not work properly/ and I need to re-export my local modx database?

Anyone have any clues?

Sounds like it’s probably a database issue. Make sure you create a dedicated database username/password for your MODx install, and update your /manager/includes/config.inc.php to reflect the new location. Sometimes you have to change the "localhost" setting to reflect the server hosting the database -- e.g. with Media Temple you have to set up an "internalhost.xyz.1234" or something like that.

Thanks for the reply Everett, Yes checked my config.inc.php setting and matched them to the new database details from my host. But somethings off/

no, you don’t

I had similar errors when I partially dumped the DB.
Check you have the correct manager user info in both the modx_manager_users & modx_users_attributes tables.

Must say its a bit of a relief some others have had a similar issue!
The site is quite large, a product catalogue, (100+pages) The export didn’t report any errors tho/

I have been into PhpMyAdmin and checked the modx_manager_users >>> the user name is the same but the password is all encoded d7a91ecaea130eccd1da3520edf7b8ab so I can’t tell if this is correct or not? But the d7a91ecaea130eccd1da3520edf7b8ab does match on both databases!!
Also checked modx_users_attributes >>> this seems to be a list of my admin details, full name, address etc, doesn’t seems as if this would have any effect??? What fields would I need to look for in here?

I also noticed that when I went to index.php instead of /manager i got a load of SQL user permissions/access errors to database/ 100000’s of lines :-/

I think I’m going to have to try the whole process over again. Going to take a while. If im still getting problems I’ll post the actual URL... Could I contact someone directly to help sort this out???

As you have a manager user setup and their details in the two tables then that won’t be the problem.
It was a bit of a long shot really.

I have realised that all my folders have 000 permissions not 777 so I am applying this to the folders and all enclosed items as well (takes a while ) Think this could have been the problem!
I think I have got the transfer process down >>>

1) Copy local site to mydomain.com
2) Export local DB (utf8_general_ci)
3) Create DB at Media Temple and Import SQL file.
4) Change config.inc.php to reflect DB at MediaTemple

goto mydomain.com/manager

Ok so I have gone through the same process as above but still getting the same login error

Im not sure what to do now/ Do I try doing an upgrade install or Advanced install to connect to the imported database???
