I don’t know whether you solved your issue or not, but I was having the same problem. I copied and pasted your code into my .htaccess file, and figured out that the rewrite rule should be:
# For Friendly URLs
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
If you are on a Godaddy server, you should also have this line:
Options +FollowSymLinks -MultiViews -Indexes
