    Hi,

please consider that you know what you’re doing in htaccess!
When enabling htaccess please consider first to check if friendlyURLs are available. Then site shouldn’t break. Then you could try to uncomment these lines:
    php_flag zlib.output_compression On
    php_value zlib.output_compression_level 5

But this is a server extension so it mustn’t be available on your host. If site break it likely isn’t.

    compress_js and compress_css should be active (=’yes’).
Firefox 3.x is slow, too. Firefox 4beta speeds up much more and is comparable to Chrome and Safari. The fastest browser currently is Opera11.

Actually I tried that and got a 500 error, but my server does, in fact, support zlib compression. Support told me that it needed to be enabled through php.ini, which I then did. Enabling it through .htaccess, they said, won’t work.

Okay, then you have to in php.ini
This is a behavior of your hosters server config. In many cases it has to be enabled via htaccess.

We use Opera 11 but we feel like Chrome is much faster. Are there special settings to make Opera 11 really fast?

No. For me it’s Opera the fastest. Chrome (9b) is taking more time to execute the JS... but all in all, it’s just about some milliseconds.

I just upgraded to 2.07. I’m at about the same speed as 2.06. :-( Firefox 3.6.13, the newest version. And yes, those JS settings in the System Settings are set.

The speed is tolerable when doing development-like stuff. It really is very, very noticeable when entering a lot of pages or doing any general data entry.

And now that I’ve upgraded to 2.07, I can no longer set parents for pages, this did work in 2.06. And yes, I’ve cleared the cache. :-( I’m very glad this is just my own test site. I don’t think I’ll have my client who is running Revo do any upgrade for now.

                  Hi,

for me in all revo installations (~15), I have a better speed about 1,5-3 times faster than in 2.0.6pl2.
But it’s already written: You need a good browser (e.g. Firefox 3.6 is not, but 4b9 is) and of course a good system to use the good rendering engine of the browser.

ExtJS actually is a big fat framework but offers great things to MODX Revo Manager. Version 4 (which should come out soon) is said to have much better performance.

But it’s often also a thing of the hoster-quality (especially DB). I’ve got two hosting companies where manager loads twice of the time as a setup on my own server.

yep, hoping to see more improvements to the manager speed, because it is almost a deal breaker for me.

I still don’t get it. I’ve never had problems with manager speed for myself. And never a client has said anything about slow manager...?
Can you give me some execution time examples how slow it is?
