I just installed Revolution and there is nothing in the resources tree or in the elements tree. I tried to make first resource, saved it, but nothing appeared to the tree on the left. I tried to make another one with same alias and no I got an error that the alias is already in use. Same thing with templates, I can make them, but they don’t appear on the tree or they are not usable for new resources. I also checked users and the users list is blank. Did I do something wrong with the install or what’s going on?

My best guess is that either one or more files was corrupted during transfer, or some directory permissions are not set correctly (though MODx will usually detect that during Setup).

Thanks for your guess BobRay. I have now reinstalled Revolution, compared directory permissions to my working revolution install on another server and I still have the same problem. The latest, not working install was installed via cpanel, if that gives any more clues to anyone.

I just noticed that package management doesn’t work either. I cannot add new provider and no providers exists. I just added new user and it shows up in database, but not in user list in modx. Really frustrating.. Basically nothing is working and viewable, but everything is still there..

Sorry that didn’t work. Maybe someone else has a better idea.

Are you sure cURL is enabled? Not having cURL would explain the Package Manager problem.

cURL is enabled. I just checked everything again and only thing I could find was that magic_quotes_gpc was still set on, but of course that didn’t help.

Be sure you meet all the minimum server requirements listed here: http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Server+Requirements.

If it’s not that, I’m out of ideas except for a misconfigured xPDO, MySQL, or PHP on your server, a corruption in the original MODx file you downloaded, or a permissions problem with one or more files or directories.

EDIT: some more info if it helps anyone.

                    PHP 5.2.8
                    Linux 2.6.18-128
                    Apache 2.0.63
                    MySQL 5.0.91
MODx 2.0.6-pl2, clean install, nothing changed or added, except one new user that didn’t show up (can see the user in the database thou..)

Thanks for the ideas.. I’ll keep looking.

BTW, the empty Resource and Element tree is normal on install in Revo -- nothing is installed by default. And if you create something, it may not show up until you refresh the tree.

mod_security can interfere with saving things (though usually not resources).

What happens when you go to Package Manager and click on the Download Extras button?
