The great thing is that the video will appear in your ’gallery’ just as in vimeo.
So now all my clients have to do is upload videos to vimeo, add them to the desired album, re-arrange them in vimeo, and wham, they’re on the website.
      They’re loving it.

This is awesome - I managed to get this working without a hitch. Completely new to Vimeo and works like a dream.

Thanks to danzg for sharing the snippet and information, brilliant - a very happy client too laugh

Ok, I am finally coming back to this...

I managed to add the three snippets, install the ZoomBox, JS, modify my template etc. I then created a test album on my Vimeo account.

It works! Obviously there is some more custom CSS work to be done in presenting the layout and appearance of the videos.

          But I have two issues:

          1) All of my description was getting wrapped in an anchor tag and was shown underlined as a link. I juggled the position of the
          $output .= '    </a>';
anchor tag in the first snippet and all is good.

          2) The main issue I have is the snippet is only returning one video on my test page? I have three test videos added to the album.

Any ideas on how to get the other videos to show?

          Thanks!

Are the videos all in one album? I uploaded two videos to vimeo and put them in one album and both videos were returned.

I discovered that I needed to go into the manager and clear the cache first. Doing, so and then refreshing the front page now shows all the videos in the album.

              Couple of curious things...

              1) The main components for each video in the album (item, caption and description) are wrapped in div id’s and not div classes. So on any given page with multiple videos the code is going against the convention that div ids should only be used once? I take it switching the ids for classes in the snippet should be OK?

              2) Vimeo privacy settings: If you elect to hide a video from the Vimeo site that video will not show in the album on the Viemo site. This is one of the features that you get with the paid Plus account. Hitting the "hide from Vimeo" button will also prevent the video from showing on the MODx page. What I am testing is this: if you add the video and make it public first it will appear on the Vimeo site and your MODx page. But if I then later go and hit the "hide from Vimeo" button the video still displays on the MODx page. This might be a short time cache thing, but I hope it stays this way.

By the way the Plus account on Vimeo is pretty nice. You get more space, faster transcoding, better quality and those extra privacy and display settings. I am one of the main moderators at cinema5D.com (massive filmmaking DSLR site) and most of the users there use Vimeo...

But I am very thankful for these Vimeo MODx snippets!

              Cheers!

Hi Photowebmax - I noticed the div’s were id’s, so I’ve changed them to class and all seems fine. Interesting about the upgraded account and privacy. Will have to investigate the Vimeo website further.

Yes, it’s my bad -- those should be ’class’ not ’id’ ! I’ll go and edit that...
(Also, @photowebmax, I have the whole div wrapped in the anchor because I wanted the user to be able to click anywhere in the div to open the video, but you could just move the <a> and </a> to your liking.)

It’s true that this method will not show ’hidden’ videos, because you’re making the call ’publicly’, and not with authorization for your vimeo account.
Another problem with the method I’ve posted is that it only returns 20 videos at a time.

Since posting this, I’ve ’upgraded’ the method to using the Vimeo Advanced API, which gives more control, returns all videos, and includes ’hidden’ ones, but it’s rather more elaborate, because you need to authenticate, register your site as an app in the API, and use the vimeo library.

When I have some time I’ll post my new snippets.

I have changed the three items to classes and all looks good: lots of nice "hooks" to add custom CSS on. grin

                      Danzg,

Thanks for providing this! I only have one site that is pulling in Vimeo videos. Previously I was using a chunk to add each iframe. Not an issue for me. But I have a client project that I am working on now that includes adding video tutorials on wool, patterns and knitting etc. This system of automatically pulling in videos from a Vimeo Album is perfect here: very, very client friendly. The timing of this could not be better! -* I was going bald scratching my head on how best to address this *-

I would love to see the more advanced method you are working on, so please keep us updated.

                      Thanks!
