      Here’s a little snippet I use to improve Manager speed and usability:

      <?php
      $settings = array(
              'feed_modx_news_enabled'=> false,
              'feed_modx_security_enabled'=> false,
              'auto_check_pkg_updates' => false,
              'default_per_page' => '100',
              'automatic_alias' => true,
              'clear_cache_refresh_trees => false,
          );

      $output = '<p>Attempting to modify existing System Settings</p>');

      foreach($settings as $key=>$value) {
          $setting = $modx->getObject('modSystemSetting',array('key'=>$key));
          if ($setting) {
              $setting->set('value',$value);
              if ($setting->save()){
                  $value = $value? $value : '0'; /* make false values show in msg */
                  $output .= '<br />Updated System Setting: ' . $key . ' to ' . $value );
              }
          } else {
              $output .= '<br />Could not retrieve setting: ' . $key);
          }
      }

      return $output;

      You could also toss in any other setting you’d like to set on any new site, e.g., hidemenu_default, published_default, search_default, allow_multiple_emails, allow_duplicate_alias, allow_tags_in_post, udperms_allowroot, blocked_minutes, failed_login_attempts, container_suffix, use_editor, which_editor, which_element_editor, SMTP settings, FURL settings, etc.

      Of course you have to remember that the settings have changed and check for updates and security issues periodically and occasionally refresh the tree manually.
      You could also create a reverse snippet that turns the feeds and updates back on and check the home screen and Package Manager after running it, then turn them off again.

      Updating to 2.0.7 or later will also give you a snappier Manager.

        but until there’s a way of migrating 1.0 sites to Revolution...
        Provisioner might help you here, also there’s a few threads on slow revo performance(mainly page loads IIRC) as opposed to your manager prob but it may be worth checking your server side environment out against these if you can.

        I’ve accessed the Provisioner app and installed it to Revolution.

        I downloaded the Revogateway.zip, and uploaded it to assets/snippets

        Then the .zip was uncompressed which created assets/snippets/revogateway

        I selected Provisioner from the top nav of Revolution, entered the remote site manager login and password, and I received this message.

        "Login to the Remote Site failed - Revolution gateway package is not installed in the remote Evolution site"

            We’ve read as much documentation as we could find but we don’t have a copy of open office. Is there anything in addition to the comments posted here:-

            http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,51360.25/wap2.html

            and

            https://github.com/shamblett/provisoner/issues#issue/41

            That we should know about?

            The install seems pretty simple, but we’ve tried everything we thought we should having read through other peoples comments and its still doing nothing and reporting the same message.

            It reports the same message even when you type in a different domain, or a wrong username or password - so its almost like its not even checking the remote server it’s saying "doesn’t have the gateway package installed".

            We’re abandoning that avenue for now.

            What revolution should have is the super fast 1.0.0 UI, so once we’re through this mess we’ve been dropped in we’ll take a look at the manual migration methods and see if there’s any way of attaching a fast independent UI to the backend. And its either that, or the price of a Revolution integration will need to include the considrable amount of time wasted on lag which will mean most clients will stick with 1.0.0. In this instance, we got "caught out", and we didn’t stipulate which version so there’s a considerable loss we’re footing for an issue that (apparently) isn’t unique to our situation.

              Yes it will do, it can’t log you in till it has established comms with the revo gateway on the remote evo site.
              Here’s the user guide in PDF, you need to install the revogateway code in any evo site you wish to import from, see the installation section.
                Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

                For Revo manager speed, upgrade to 2.0.7. this release has special optimizations, and IMO its almost as speedy as Evo now. Preferably use Google Chrome as its JS engine is way faster than Firefox 3.6.

                  We looked at upgrading, but the 2.0.7 extract would overwrite the existing files.. which wouldn’t be so bad if there was a clean and easy way of doing a back up and restore if something goes wrong.

                    Thank you.

                    We read the documentation and it contained the same information we already discovered.

                    The admin account of the remote site has sufficient priviledges.

                    All the files on the remote evo site in the revogateway code were set to 755.

                    We also tried addressing the evo site using url/assets/snippets/revogateway/connectors/

                    And we tried url/assets/snippets/

                    We also tried url/ - www.url - http://www.url

                    We even accessed mysql and assigned the revo site url as a site permitted to access the db remotely.

                    So I think we’ve done just about everything there is to do and the error message persists.

                      We upgraded to 2.0.7 and lost everything. There actually wasn’t an upgrade option, the "upgrade" select button wouldn’t "select".

                      Now we’re going through the paces of configuring out as much "junk" as we can, then we’ll take a look at the manager UI speed.

                      We re-installed Provisioner and it still does not work. So thats a blank for 2.0.7 too!
