Hello,
I’m using MODx Revolution 2.0.2-pl. It’s painfully slow. For example when I click on something, like to load a template for example - it can take up to 10 seconds to load. Can someone give me some advice on where/how I should start troubleshooting to isolate the problem?
Thank you!
- Jess
what OS are you using?
what browsers have you tried?
What plugins and / or modules do you have installed in your broweser?
There’s probably a few more questions that could help but would be helpful to know?

Are you running Firefox w/ Firebug while running the manager? Are you running on localhost or remote? What browsers, OS and did you have any odd behaviours or errors on the install?

Nothing to do with your problem, however there was a security vulnerability in 2.0.2 so you should really upgrade to 2.0.3
We’re experiencing the same speed issues as well.
And they are particularly harsh because there’s no way to develop in (fast) 1.0, then port the completed 1.0 site to the clients Revolution install.
It’s taking 10 times longer to develop a site in Revolution as it took in 1.0, and 90% of that time is spent "waiting" for the UI to refresh.
We finished an 80 page (6 templates and a dozen variations per template) 1.0 site a few weeks ago, and now we’re working on a 40+ page site in Revolution (5 templates and as many variations per template). The manager UI refreshes are just horribly slow, saving files is painfully slow, and navigation in Revolution isn’t as nicely spaced out as it was in 1.0.
Revolution is a big system and we’re running mac’s with firefox using remotely hosted linux servers. We’ve had script unresponsive errors happening if we have more than 3 browser windows open at once, so there’s obviously a lot of heavy duty background processing going on in Revo which accounts for the time its taking to get things done.
This is a side by side comparison to 1.0, both systems on the same server (different domains and installs) and us using the same browsers and mac’s.
1.0 is a beautifully responsive and fast development platform for large sites, Revolution has become for us something of a productivity killer .. but until there’s a way of migrating 1.0 sites to Revolution, we don’t have a choice.

Starbuck,
Could you be a little more specific? What version of Revolution are you using? What version of Evolution? Who is the hosting company?
Revolution’s manager is going to be much "heavier" as it has a lot more JS than Evolution’s manager.
AMDbuilder
but until there’s a way of migrating 1.0 sites to Revolution...
Provisioner might help you here, also there’s a few threads on slow revo performance(mainly page loads IIRC) as opposed to your manager prob but it may be worth checking your server side environment out against these if you can.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!
