Are there any instructions anywhere for importing an existing Evolution website into the Revolution beta3 (to try it out on a non-production server) , or is that not possible yet?

Thanks for that. Is there any indication as to whether automatic translation will be available in the RC-1 release?
I note that the guide appears already out of date as the link: Tools | Configuration | Friendly URLs is now under: Systems|System Settings in Beta-3 I have installed.

I am currently developing a website in Evolution, but being new to ModX I don’t want to use lots of time really getting to understand the codebase and features if Revolution is going to be the way foreward. I’d much rather use Revolution from the beginning if that is practical.

Just remind you to check your web-server’s php extension setting.
              Revo needs php_pdo.dll.
Not every live (online) server has this.
              Otherwise, use Evo instead.

There is no discussion currently of automatic translations in either branch of MODx.

Revo is definitely the future of MODx, but it’s just that: the future. For many people Evo is perfectly capable and probably the right choice. Revo is still in Beta and need a considerable amount of polish for non-technical users and porting of third-party add-ons.

Re: Porting a website from Evolution to Revolution
It should definitely be possible and mostly automated. We keep migration in mind as a primary focus of development.

OK - thanks. that makes the decision a lot easier. Is there any rough idea of the time-frame for release ie 1 month, 6 months, 1 year ? I remember seeing ’Late Summer’ as an indication soemwhere. Depending on your hemishere that would be about now??

We’d love to have another beta out in late summer, and RC by the end of the year.
