Hi,
I would like to create a folder in my site tree with pages within, however, it can’t act as a container. I only managed to create a folder as a container.
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards.
I’m afraid I don’t understand your question. Folders in MODx are actually documents. If they have children in MODx Evolution, they are, by definition containers. So you’re kind of asking for a container that isn’t a container, which is kind of hard to achieve.
Maybe if you can describe what you’re trying to accomplish in more detail someone can suggest a way to do it.
Okay, sorry for the missunderstanding.
I’m creating a simple multilanguage site and I have 8 documents in english and I want it in french as well. In each page I have a language button that redirects to the respective translated page (by the ID).
Everything is ok, however, I would like to have an organized structure.
If this works, I have yet to solve the navigation question (displaying french or english navigation at a time).
Kind regards.
It sounds like you should be able to put all the English docs under an English container and all the French docs under a French container. Then in each page, do your menus with a Wayfinder call with &startId set to the correct container.
People more familiar with internationalization may have better ideas.
Thank you for the tip.
The main problem now is that "en" appears on the menu and the documents within appears below "en". I want to remove en from the navigation but really don’t know how.
Try adding &ignoreHidden=`TRUE` and uncheck the "Show in menu" checkbox for those containers.
Glad you got it worked out.
The only "problem" now is that I will need to duplicate my templates to the french version so I can use a new wayfinder with a new startid, or there is a better and simple way to apply a conditional wayfinder (snippet) based on the parent (en/fr) I’m in ?
I might be misunderstanding what you want, but I think you could create a Template Variable called getParentId to hold the parent ID with the default value @INHERIT n (where n is the ID of the en or fr container doc).
Then set the parent value of that TV in the en and fr container docs and use &startId=`[*getParentId*]` in the Wayfinder call.
