This place is not the same without you.
Agree. Take care Susan, and get well. Wish you all the best and sending a polarbearhug from Svalbard.  smiley

I’m sorry, guys, but my eyes are giving out; a severe early case of a common aging process. I’m not sure if they’ll ever be back to good enough for any serious computer work. I plan on going until the end of March before I even try to work on the book any more. In order to make sure I know what I’m talking about I install a working copy and do whatever I’m writing about at the moment, and that takes a lot of computer time.

About all I’m good for now is reading my email and Slashdot and local news for half an hour or so a couple times a day. I’ve had to pretty much give up on trying to keep up with the forum.

Well, I don’t mean to be whiny, but I thought you guys at least deserve to know why I’ve apparently abandoned the project.

I hear you. My father once told me, "Don’t get old," but none of the methods I’ve tried for accomplishing that have worked very well (and some seem to have made things worse).

It’s sad for you and a big loss for us, I keep seeing questions on the Forums and thinking, "Susan would know the answer to that -- I wish I did."

      Take care of yourself.

        Sorry about that Susan...

I think I remember you saying you used a Powerbook for your work? Have you ever tried using a large monitor display with the screen resolution set lower than normal? All the text will appear much larger on the screen (graphics will not scale though) which makes reading code much, much easier. You give up display real estate but a larger physical display will make up for that.

I feel so fortunate that I work at home with a 30" Apple Cinema Display and just love this thing. Anytime I use another computer it feels like I am working on the back of a matchbook cover.

        Stay well!
