I have been working on my own network idea and have used existing snippets and some hacks... I thought about jot but there was no way to allow a specific webuser be the admin of a blog on their page.
My idea can be seen here... www.xhtmldesigners.com
I still haven’t quite finished it but all the permissions etc have been done.
thats a fab site !
will look more closely shortly
this is why we are rewritting some of the snippets and creating new ones to allow more individual based functionality

Thanks! It’s finally hit number 1 on google for xhtml designers lol.
The things I want to add are personalized blog which would allow users to add comments but the owner of the document to remove or unpublish comments. My understanding is jot can’t do that for web users or by document creator. I also really want to add a forum to that site that uses a registered members username and password but that’s probably not going to happen.
Your idea sounds nice as well, I’ll keep an eye on this thread.
havd you tried smf bridge ?

Yes and it doesn’t work... the password side was flakey at best unfortunately. Ganesh had phpbb nearly working, members were able to register with modx and phpbb at the same time but the password from phpbb send to modx was the actual encrypted password! I use modx 9.6.3 and I like SMF 2.4 beta so I don’t think the bridge will work for them. If I wasn’t a poor student I would pay someone to do it as it’s really the only thing I want right now, modx with some sort of forum integration.
Are you writing your own snippet for a buddy list?

Hmmm maybe I will give it another try then cause I have made a lot of posts about getting forums and modx working. Did you just use the same one in the repo and no edits? ALso which versions of modx and smf did you use? If I can get that working that would be so good. My 18 month wait might be over lol
