I’m probably missing something really obvious here but when I get to the "Database Information" screen of the install, I fill in the host name, login and password and when I press "→ Test database server connection and view collations." nothing happens. No errors, no warnings. When I try and press "Next" I get an error that tells me I need to test my connection.

    Any ideas?

When making support requests, please make sure to provide information about your web server and your client machine:

          Web Server:

          • PHP version and how it’s running (suexec, mod_php, CGI, etc.)
          • Apache or IIS version
          • Operating System and version

          Database:

          • MySQL version
          • List of any tables over 1MB in size

          MODx:

          • Version
          • Any changes you’ve made
          • Any snippets you’re running on the page that is not working properly
          • Any plugins you’re running

          Browser/Client:

          • Browser name and version
          • Operating System and version

This will go a long way towards being able to quickly resolve or duplicate and bugs as applicable, and should result in a better overall support experience.

Further, if you’re seeing problems with snippets not seeming to work right, make sure you’re enclosing parameters in back-tics, not single-quotes. On US-English keyboards that’s the key typically found at the top-left of the number row: `

          Thanks!

Hi, I’m new to Modx and would love to get past the initial test database screen when installing Evolution 1.0.0

            My problem.
1.I have installed PHP on windows srv 2003 with IIS 6.0 successfully - confirmed by running phpinfo() (Also attached for assistance)
2.I have installed MySQL and have created a database called modx and a user called modx with all permissions granted to the DB.
3.I then ran the install page for evolution.
4.Selected language etc, until I got the "Test database server connection and view collations"
            5. I entered localhost, my user modx and the password. I then clicked on the link and nothing happened..

            Please help... ;-)

My details of the installation are:
            IIS 6.0
            Operating System Windows Srv 2003

            Database:
            MySQL 5.1.38 - community via TCP/IP

            PHP 5.2.10
            MODx: 1.0.0

            Browser/Client: IE 7

            regards
            Oliver

You don’t have a MYSQL section in your PHP info, so you have no MYSQL drivers, hence you’re not talking to the DB at all. These need to be added to your install. In fact your php installation seems very basic.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

@shamblett thanks for looking over my install. I’m still new at this so
everthing I have installed is basic. How do I go about installing The msql drivers you are refering to?
                Thank you in advance

You need to look at your PHP install, or your IIS install, sorry I’m not really a windows guy, there may be a way to install it as a custom install where you can select your components, rather than a typical install or you may be able to add these later as modules. Refer to your docs or as ever google is your friend.

                    Hi,

Since you are still "new" to this, it may be worthwhile (for starters) to just install WAMP or XAMPP if this is a local install you are working on.

                    cheers/k

@kongondo Thanks, but I haven’t heard of either of the two things you mention. I’m that new ;-)

Can someone point me in the rigt direction to get the MSQL drivers installed so MODX can connect to my DB?
