Hi,
I’ve had a good look through past posts and have found similar but not identical problems to the one I am experiencing. So far everything I have tried has failed.
I’ve unpacked and uploaded the files to my server. I’ve viewed ...install/index.php in FireFox and entered all my database details and admin account details. Both on page database tests were fine. However, when I click on next I get a page that looks like the previous one, only with no content and no links. A dead end.
I’ve tried to view the site and get a warning telling me MODx isn’t installed.
I’ve done this several times now and the same thing happens each time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It’s a Linux server with MySQL5 and PHP5.
Cheers,
DA
Hi Kongondo,
Thanks for the quick response.
Is there a way of moving the post to the right place?
It is my first MODx install... I’ve just checked and I can’t seem to find the exact versions anywhere on my host’s website, or in my control panel. I’ll get in contact with them.

One of the most common issues for installations aside from server configs is missing or corrupted files during upload. If you are using ftp it will happen.
First suggestion would be to confirm your server meets the
requirements and then I would try to re-upload your files from a clean/new zip.
Hope this helps.
BTW if you want to know about your server info you can create a file and name it something like info.php and place the following code in it:
then access it via your browser. It will display your server information (most of it anyway)

PHP 5.2.8
MySQL 5.0.82

Hi SmashingRed and Kongondo,
Thanks for your advice.
I’ve checked the minimum requirements again, and I’m worried about the minimum memory requirements. I seem to remember I once had a problem with Joomla on a different server, and it turned out to be this. Does it sound likely?
I resolved that using a php.ini file. Would that be the best way again?
Cheers!

Its likely not the memory unless it is below 8M (which would be nuts) typical servers are set 16-32 now.

@DA,
Do you have the database already created or MODx is creating it for you?
cheers/k
Hi K,
When the installation screen asked me for the database details I assumed I’d have to create one manually, so I did.
I’ve not done anything with the database other than create it.
I’m going to try SmashingRed’s suggestion of removing all the files and uploading a new set. I use Filezilla, so it may have corrupted something.
Cheers,
