Not a server overload based on the error msgs, I would go with the STRICT mode suggestion.
I was having terrible trouble with MODx on a previous host who was running mysql in STRICT, I was able to move to a dedicated server and all is well now.

MODx 0.9.6.3+ should work in MySQL STRICT mode, and if it doesn’t there needs to be specific errors reported in JIRA so any queries that are problematic are fixed ASAP.
