Getting ID of this page (the current page)

Sorry, this has undoubtedly been answered before, but I couldn’t find it...

How can I read the id of the current page? I didn’t see any relevant template variables for that.

I would like to use this in some Snippet calls, e.g.



The idea is that the Snippet could live in a template or in a chunk, but it will be called on different pages, so I don’t want to have to manually update the startId each time I use the Snippet.

I could make another Snippet that uses this:


Then I could nest the Snippet calls. But is there a better way to do this?

Everet: This page in the docs has a more complete list of document variables (even if the page title says template variables)

BTW, according to the Wiki Wayfinder 2.0 docs, the current doc ID is the default value for &startId so, in theory, if you leave out that parameter, it should get that value. The last time I tried it, it didn’t seem to work, although that was a long time ago.

You might give it a try and report back.

Yes, the Wayfinder snippet does appear to use the current id as the default; the [*id*] placeholder is good for other Snippets that may not have this behavior.
