the hosting: you say its hosted with you, but is on a different server, so I presume the DNS is pointing to the 3rd party host - that might be where the problem is occuring

So far as I know (I am not a pecialist for this so this may not be 100% correct) the SSL certificate are tied to the DNS

Ah. I was told that there wouldn't be another upgrade and all future sites needed to be built in Revo (which I am now using). So.... I have contacted several MODX developers and asked the question about converting my sites to Revo and not one of them has come back to me with a cost or suggestion. My current 'developer' is more of a designer too, so not hugely technical and shies away from this sort of detailed stuff. So basically I feel as if I am completely out on a Limb.

Just wanted to say a huuuuuge thank you for all your help and support. I really appreciate all the time you have just taken talking me through what to do. I will now go back to the hosting company and give them rocks!
