ha! yep smiley it works fine with furls off.
Sounds like either your RewriteBase or RewriteRule is pointing to the wrong location, or the host is not allowing .htaccess overrides to the mod_rewrite directives (i.e. RewriteEngine, RewriteBase, RewriteCondition, RewriteRule).

Check the path set for RewriteBase and RewriteRule first; if those don’t reveal the problem, might need to talk to your host...

just running the standard .htaccess file guess its time to hassle the host.

      thanks everyone.

if you put the site in sub directory on the new server you’ll need to update the RewriteBase / to RewriteBase /subdir/

          Hi,

i have searched everywhere, but can`t work out a solution to my problem.

I have moved my site from my test server to the real sever, everything works great expect i get a 404 for each page. The urls are written correctly but the pages return as 404`s. Can anyone suggest anything that might be causing this? i don`t even know where to start.

          thanks,
          g.

You did run an upgrade install in the new location, while logged out of the manager and after clearing your browser cache & cookies -- right? wink

An upgrade install never hurts and it will clear the cache and potentially straighten out some problems (or give you a clue about what’s wrong in an error message during the install).
