Why wouldn’t you just use the contextual menu on the document tree (right-click)?

I have a long list of documents in my doc tree, the contextual menu work just fine, but if I need to add for example a new pair of jeans I’ll need to expend store>Categories>Men>Jeans and then click create New Document here.

for me it’s not a problem but for the client I would think it would be easier if I could have the new document standard form in a module and from there he only needs to choose the parent container and he can add another product straight from there.

        hope I make sense wink

I see now. You want to be able to register new menu entries for creating new documents in certain locations. That’s an interesting (and very good) idea indeed. Please file a feature request in Jira if you don’t mind (http://svn.modxcms.com/jira/).

You can create 1) quick shortcut links on the manager home page to go straight to some action (I use this for blog posts - where I have a button/link jumping straight to the add new document to the blog section) - there is a tutorial in the wiki for this; 2) create a module with links. This is easy and requires no ’hacking’ so it will upgrade nicely.

Shane, searched the wiki for the tutorial but couldn’t find it. Mind posting the link here? Thanks.

Thanks for the replies, Ryan I’ll submit my wish with jira and will wish that one sunny day she’ll come back to life and make all our dreams come true.
Shane love the idea with the links, sounds like a nice workaround meanwhile for what I need.

&kongondo I believe this is the article Shane refer to:

Shane your idea is simple and so brilliant smiley
                    Thank you for posting it!

using direct links gives me the new document with all the settings already setup as if I were browsing down the tree, so I don’t need to worry about templates or tvs as I would if it was a module. and if i use target="_self" in acts *almost* like a module minus the ajax wink
                    here is my module wannabe:
