Paul,
While this is an interesting suggestion. All of those Extras originally written by splittingred and other MODX staff members are GPL and contain GPL code written by other people. We forked those projects, which is completely legitimate and have left the appropriate license and attribution in place and anyone is welcome to fork those and make them their own so long as the GPL+attribution is intact. I am not sure how this might work with modmore. Not opposed outright, just not sure it can work with regard to the licensing.

I'm not a big fan of freemium - it's either free, and you can do what you need to do with it, or it's not. With freemium it tends to be free to start, but then you need to pay to really do stuff with it. If someone is interested in doing something to a certain extra, but they need revenue to sustain the development long enough, please do get in touch as we might be able of sponsoring such development.
Good point Mark. It's a hassle too. Not sure how you could manage an Articles Plus. Nevermind the notion of adopting OPC (Other People's Code) as your own. I know how much fun other people's CSS and HTML is throw in PHP and JS an I'd personally run for the hills.

I don;t know anything about Collections. I installed but don;t know what to do. Is there any tutorial or something which helps me to begin and create a blog just like Articles?
I tried this(
http://rtfm.modx.com/revolution/2.x/case-studies-and-tutorials/creating-a-blog-in-modx-revolution) but its not working(not showing blog posts on my home page).
Articles is a whole bunch of MODX extras bundled to work with a certain set of resources. If you are using Collections or any other method of managing the blog resources, then you need to install and use getResources, getPage, Quip, and any other extras you need to set up your blog display the way you want it.
I personally prefer using MIGXdb to manage my resources, then the various pdoTools snippets for listing them, and ModxTalks for a commenting system. StageCoach is a fun extra that helps you manage version control of your blog posts.
Keep in mind that no matter what system you use, your blog posts are just resources of one kind or another, so they can be output using any of the resource-listing snippets.

I feel like Acticles is way too overkill for most usecases. I would just like to have the Articles interface, and leave out all the rest. I usually spend a lot time uninstalling Quip, archivist etc.

I never tried other options and using only Articles from start. I think its time to try the suggested extras too. Thanks alot for your suggections and replies. I am going to have a look on others, and then will get back to you.
But still I think Articles is a good package.
PS: Anyone know how to use Wordpress's Pingomatix service in Modx? Its Available in Articles. I treid a beta version of Pingomatix but I don;t think its working. I mean im not sure.
