Well, I think I need to resurrect this thread. I'm getting this same problem.

    I'm running Revo 2.2.5-pl and bigbrother-1.1.0-rc2.

I go through the setup process and then the account is not listed in the dropdown (nothing is).

Not sure if it is related but the site Google account is one of several under the same account. That shouldn't matter, right?

      Willi - try this:

      1. Clear your MODX cache (actually delete from core/cache, don't just press the button in the manager)
      2. Clear browser cookies and cache
      3. Log back in to your Google Analytics account
      4. Log back in to the MODX manager
      5. Retry the Big Brother setup process

If this doesn't work, then I would recommend upgrading your MODX install to 2.2.7 and trying again. I have half a dozen sites working with Big Brother and 2.2.7 with no setup issues whatsoever.

EDIT: Just realized that I didn't answer you on the multiple accounts front. This makes absolutely no difference. I create each client's analytics account separately and then add myself as an admin (using my personal google account) and use my personal account to connect Big Brother. There are around 50 analytics accounts in my personal account. [ed. note: designcouch last edited this post 11 years ago.]

Thanks, designcouch. Looks like I'm going to have to try upgrading to 2.2.7.

I tried uninstalling Big Brother (force removal), clearing core > cache, clearing cache from control panel, clearing browser cache/cookies and then going through the process again, all while having the Google account open. No dice.

I did manage to install Google Analytics Dashboard Widget without incident, though. Will need to see what the boss wants to do. I had Big Brother installed on a different site with no problems and like it more than 'Dashboard Widget.

        Again, thanks for responding.

I'm having the exact same issue here with a Google account that has multiple Analytics (and have this problem frequently with this extra - sometimes I can get it to work, others not so much).

I've tried the following about 5 times, all to no avail:

          - Clear your MODX cache (actually delete from core/cache, don't just press the button in the manager)
          - Clear browser cookies and cache
          - Log back in to your Google Analytics account
          - Log back in to the MODX manager
          - Retry the Big Brother setup process

          ––

Upon completion of those steps, I return to Components -> Google Analytics, click the dropdown, it spins for a few moments and then is blank. No ability to select an account and set it up.

Any thoughts on how to get this thing to work would be appreciated!

Nick: It's been a while since I've visited this issue and I'm sorry to say I don't have a solution. However, what version of MODx and Big Brother are you using? I may be wrong, but it looks like the Big Brother developer hasn't updated anything past version 1.1.0-rc2, which is the version I'm having problems with. I haven't, however, installed it on any MODx version newer than 2.2.6.

While this has been an issue for a while, there is still hope for those who prefer using Big Brother by adding two system settings.

              1. Go through the initial setup process to get an OAUTH token from your Google account. It can be generated manually, but it's just easier.
              2. When you get to the drop-down menu that hangs, go to your System Settings.
              3. Under System Settings, choose the "bigbrother" namespace and create the following two settings. Be sure to place them under the "bigbrother" namespace and appropriate topic for easy updating.

              Analytics Profile
              Key: bigbrother.account
              Name: Analytics Profile
Value: View ID (Not to be confused with your Account ID. This number can be found by going to Admin > View > View Settings)

              Account Name
              Key: bigbrother.account_name
              Name: Account Name
              Value: Your Site Name

After adding it to your dashboard, that should be all you need to get things working properly.

Just an update on this, Garrett is correct but the first option (Analytics Profile) key value should be:

                  Analytics Profile

                  Key: bigbrother.account
                  Name: Analytics Profile
Value: View ID (Not to be confused with your Account ID. This number can be found by going to Admin > View > View Settings)

                    Install BigBrother

Add the Google Analytics - Big Brother widget to your dashboard

Go to your dashboard, you should see a Setup your Analytics account button

Click the button and go through the process of connecting to your Google Analytics Account

If you have accounts for lots of different websites you may have to do the following:

In System Settings, namespace bigbrother, you may need to set bigbrother.account to the View ID from your Google Analytics account

In Google Analytics under the Admin tab this is where to find the View ID:

                    And then...
