I have the following nested structure:

    Folder 1
    > Folder 2
    >> Page 1
    >> Page 2
    >> Page 3

Each Resource is set to 'Published'. And each page (Template) uses the PageLocker add-on.

When I preview a page in MODX everything renders as it should and the password-protected pages work too.

However, if I manually type (or copy/paste) the url into any browser it throws a 503 error.

I tried removing the PageLocker add-on with no change.

    Ideas anyone?

    Thanks
      Todd

The site is not online yet.

        • Something isn't sounding right; there shouldn't be any difference between clicking on a link and manually entering the same URL into your browser's address bar.

One other thing, the webpage shows a 503 but in the browser tab - and at the top of the browser window where the page name usually appears - it reads "Error 404: Page not found". Not sure if that's relevant.
              Todd
            • That begins to make more sense. That means that you're getting your site's "not found" page, and that's the page that's returning the 503 message.

Is your "not found" page a dedicated not found page, or your site's home page?

Do you have a bunch of hosting-provided error pages in your web root?

I agree. It's weird. I've tried Firefox, Safari, Chrome, Camino and it's all the same: previewing in MODX is fine but manually accessing the url throws an error.

I don't know. I didn't setup a "not found" page. Is there a default MODX page for this?

No hosting provided error pages in the web root that I saw.

                  • One other thing, did you clear the cache (even to the point of manually deleting all the folders in the core/cache folder)? You might want to clear your browser cache and cookies for the domain as well.

                    • I presume you have friendly URLs turned on. Try turning them off and see what happens.
