I have the following nested structure:
Folder 1
> Folder 2
>> Page 1
>> Page 2
>> Page 3
Each Resource is set to 'Published'. And each page (Template) uses the PageLocker add-on.
When I preview a page in MODX everything renders as it should and the password-protected pages work too.
However, if I manually type (or copy/paste) the url into any browser it throws a 503 error.
I tried removing the PageLocker add-on with no change.
Ideas anyone?
Thanks
Todd
Can you provide a link so we can see what is happening?
Something isn't sounding right; there shouldn't be any difference between clicking on a link and manually entering the same URL into your browser's address bar.

One other thing, the webpage shows a 503 but in the browser tab - and at the top of the browser window where the page name usually appears - it reads "Error 404: Page not found". Not sure if that's relevant.

That begins to make more sense. That means that you're getting your site's "not found" page, and that's the page that's returning the 503 message.
Is your "not found" page a dedicated not found page, or your site's home page?
Do you have a bunch of hosting-provided error pages in your web root?
One other thing, did you clear the cache (even to the point of manually deleting all the folders in the core/cache folder)? You might want to clear your browser cache and cookies for the domain as well.
I presume you have friendly URLs turned on. Try turning them off and see what happens.
