The wiki in the svn (confluence) is the official MODx wiki. The other one is a community maintained one.

We have started converting all documentation to an online format thanks especially to the hurculean efforts of our good friend and uber-moderator Zi.

Hello, and thanks for this doc.

i’d like to know what is the process to translate these docs in french.
        Where ? how ?…
Let’s think i’ve got some time to kill, and i want to translate some pages from the doc.
Should i do this on my own server, or is there a way to do it on an "official" place ?

        thanks !

This issue is of great interest to me as well.

As _lol_, I’d like to start translating the official documentation in French and I wonder if we can use the Confluence wiki.

            Hi Everybody
Completly new to ModX, I’m looking for a CMS and just trying a few.
I found documentation for version 0.9.6 but i downloaded 1.0.0. It seems the menu is very different, at least I cannot find the "Template" section.

Is there any 1.0.0 version documentation?

I’m not sure about the docs, but Templates are on the Elements tab. Welcome to MODx. smiley

Currently the only documentation available for 0.9.6x and Evolution 1.0.0 is one in the same. We are reviewing it to bring it up to date and inline with the vast number of changes in the Evolution release.

As BobRay points out the names Resource Tab has been renamed Elements. There are some UI changes as well there are more changes coming soon to the UI. Most things function the same way on the front end but we hope to put efforts on fully documenting Evolution and keeping it up to date. You may always post any questions here and someone will help you find your way.

                Cheers,

Has anyone created a screencast of the basic Modx admin functions and features? I think that would be great to give clients that would like to learn how to use the system in a more visual way. Thanks!

                  Regards,
                  Matt
Matt, This is a tough one. MODx is as much a content management framework as it is CMS and thus it can be tricky to provide definitive and meaningful, let alone valid, screencasts for end users. Addons like ManagerManager (being rolled into the core distro for 1.x) allows you to rename, hide and modify the manager UI extensively and therefore except for the end users who get stuck with a stock UI it would be possibly confusing.

We are certainly looking at screencasts for designers and developers on approaches, how tos and basics on use and configuration but it is often best that a screencast for end users be done by the person who implemented the site.

I do this frequently for clients; demoing how to perform certain tasks like create a blog post or add a photo etc.

Let us know what dev and designer screencasts you’d love to see though.

                  Cheers,

                  Jay

The wiki documentation on Managing Users is broken - none of the images are present.

Both children under this page have this issue. Not sure how to get this addressed, but it would be useful.

                      Hi there!

I’m finding myself in the situation that I need a current documentation for editors/publishers. Thus, the most important parts are currently editing and managing content (including uploading pictures and other files) AND managing web users.

All documentation that I can find is still for version 0.9.x. This means: old screenshots and some old terms (like "documents" instead of "resources"). For a newbie these two issues will be quite confusing. That’s why I will probably start to update the documentation, starting with the above. I would use http://rtfm.modx.com/display/Evo1/Home for that, if that’s the correct source.

But before I do this, I need to know if anybody else is working on that.

btw: I cannot login to rtfm.modx.com with my user name and password. And I don’t find a way to register for that site. Any ideas?

                      Greetings
                      Martin
